Alan Vitouš

A Czech percussionist, multi-genre artist and graduate of the Prague Conservatory School in percussion instruments.


In1962-1965 and together with his brother Miroslav Vitouš and Jan Hammer, he played in the most promising Czech Jazz Band of all time, the JUNIOR TRIO.
At the beginning of the eighties he worked with Jiří Stivín, and in1985 he founded his own ensemble, the VITOUŠ TRIO (with Jana Koubková and Vojtěch Havel)
By the turn of the nineties he performed with Japanese dancer Min Tanaka (Prague, Tokyo) and then returned to work with Miroslav Vitouš (Alan Vitouš featuring Miroslav Vitouš 1990 CD, tour of Europe and Japan 1990 CD, Strings of Autumn, Prague 2003 CD)

In 1992-1994 he performed and recorded music for "East Wind" with Miquel Montanar, a French song writer.
A joint project with singer Feng Jün, was awarded second prize at the prestigious musical competition in Shangai in 1995.
Since 1989 Alan Vitouš has worked with actor Jaroslav Dušek (Vizita theatre)
He is also a founding member of a Percussionists meeting (Slet bubeníků).

One time projects: My Country 2002, Drumming Bach 2005 (presented at the Strings of Autumn festival)
Music to films and documentaries of Viktor Polesný, Majka Šandová, Pavel Koutecký, Jana Ševčíková and others.

 

Since 2005 he has been working with the Czech Clarinet Quartet (recently re-named Clarinet Factory)
